Human Anatomy insight Your Body amp How it Works

HUMAN BODY ANATOMY ORGANS :

When you first decided to study the human anatomy there must have been a reason. Possibly you are planning on becoming a physician or Nurse, or some other type of condition care professional. Actually some citizen opt to study it just out of personal interest. Anyhow you were probably thinking that you will be learning the separate systems, the organs and Possibly some illnesses.

Human Anatomy - insight Your Body & How it Works

You probably didnt give much belief to the basics. For example, to be able to study properly, you will need to learn how to divide the body into parts. I dont mean the systems. When you have to learn about how something works, you must dissect it to see what its made of up. The same applies in human anatomy. Visualization is going to mean everything in your studies. By learning how to visualize the body in sections, will help you when it comes time for the study in the other areas. These sections are particularly leading when it comes to curative imaging.

When you come to this section of your learning, take a piece of blank paper, and draw it into four equal boxes. As you start with a section put a sketch , along with the data for that single section in one box. Now do the same in the next three. You will have 4 separate blocks of information, but when you look at the paper as a whole it is the entire human anatomy. This is an perfect way to start training your mind how to visualize.

You will probably then go on to learn about position and direction. What this means is what the association of one organ is to another. A neat way to learn this is to have the full body drawn on a piece of paper. As you learn the separate positions and directions draw a box arrow on the diagram showing its direction. (a box arrow is a fat arrow that you can color in).

Lets take an example. Suppose you are given the terms, cranial, superior, rostra. What are these terms referring to? You probably got a hint from the word cranial, as it is a fairly base term. So what these terms mean is, they refer to a structure being closer to the head, or above an additional one structure of the body. So draw a arrow pointing up from the top of the head. Color the arrow in, (now you can write the explanation in small writing, point form beside the arrow. Put a box around the writing and color it the same color as the arrow.

Lets do one more. You are given the term anterior, ventral. This means that the structure is more toward the front than an additional one structure of the body. So draw a fat arrow on the chest pointing out. With a separate color, fill in the arrow. Again in small letters write in the meaning, and put a box around the writing in the same color as the arrow.

Continue doing this for each of the terms and positions you will be learning. At the end you will have a condensed study sheet.

It must be pointed that when referring to these terms it is when the body is in the accepted anatomical position, which is the body standing erect, limbs extended, palms of hands facing forward.

DESCRIPTION

About the Author

Dee Unglaub Silverthorn studied biology as an undergraduate at Tulane University and received a Ph.D. in marine science from the University of South Carolina. Her research interest is epithelial transport, and recent work in her laboratory has focused on transport properties of the chick allantoic membrane. She began her teaching career in the Physiology Department at the Medical University of South Carolina but over the years has taught a wide range of students, from medical and college students to those still preparing for higher education. At the University of Texas-Austin she teaches physiology in both lecture and laboratory settings, and instructs graduate students on developing teaching skills in the life sciences. She has received numerous teaching awards and honors, including the 2009 Outstanding Undergraduate Science Teacher Award from the Society for College Science Teachers, the American Physiological Society’s Claude Bernard Distinguished Lecturer and Arthur C. Guyton Physiology Educator of the Year, UT System Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award, and multiple awards from UT-Austin, including the Burnt Orange Apple Award. The first edition of her textbook won the 1998 Robert W. Hamilton Author Award for best textbook published in 1997—98 by a University of Texas faculty member. Dee recently completed six years as editor-in-chief of Advances in Physiology Education and she works with members of the International Union of Physiological Sciences to improve physiology education in developing countries. She is the incoming president (2012-13) of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society, and an active member of the American Physiological Society, the Society for Comparative and Integrative Biology, the Association for Biology Laboratory Education, and the Society for College Science Teachers. Her free time is spent creating multimedia fiber art and enjoying the Texas hill country with her husband, Andy, and their dogs.

About the Illustrators
Dr. William C. Ober received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and his M.D. from the University of Virginia. Perhaps the other reason is that most people think we now know human anatomy quite well. But that is not so true. Giant Human Graveyard Discovered Near Hartford Connecticut

Giant Human Graveyard Discovered Near Hartford, Connecticut
One Skeleton Measured Over 12 Foot Tall

Hartford, Connecticut Herald, November, 29 1911
Evidences of a prehistoric race have been discovered by Hugh Yates, a prosperous land owner of this county, on his farm, a few miles west of here. While excavating beneath a high cliff on his place, Mr. Yates came upon an immense grave containing a human skeleton. The frame was of giant proportions. His curiosity aroused, Mr. Yates called in some neighbors, and, armed with picks, they burrowed their way into the side of the cliff and found an ancient sepulcher crowded with human skeletons, some of them larger than the one first found. One of the frames measured 12 feet. Along with the skeletons were found curiously wrought jewels and strange ornaments, while cooking vessels and musical instruments of queer design were unearthed in great profusion. The diggers are still at work and expect to make even more important finds

A PREHISTORIC BIG FOOT
A Notable Fossil Find In San Diego County
A Human Hoof Twenty Inches Long and  "Big in Proportion" -  On a par with the Famous Calaveras Skull What Scientists Say

San Diego, July 18. - Special Correspondence. a discovery made in Sweetwater Valley in San Diego county some time ago may yet create a sensation among scientists when the full import of the fossil is made known.
While digging a well the workmen unearthed what appears to be the fossil of a huge human foot, a photograph of which has been taken specially for The Times.

This foot is twenty inches long and of exceedingly large dimensions. It was found some forty or fifty feet below the surface of the earth, and had there been a means at hand for further exploration, it is believed that other parts of a gigantic human skeleton, of which this fossilized foot is deemed a part, might have been found.
